The Amilcar brand was mostly known for its line of sports cars. The company name was the anagram of its two founders, MM Lamy and Akar. In the 1930s a version of the Amilcar 6 even took part in the Indianapolis 500 miles race. Note the shadow of the Pegasus radiator cap on the roadside cliff!

A cornhusker character driving a jalopy pulled by an exhausted canine sidekick ! Never mind the engine, as long as we are outfitted with Continental tires ! A whimsical poster for the Continental Caoutschuk & Gutta-Parcha Compagnie GmbH established in Hanover (Germany) in 1871.

This poster done by Yvonne Brudo (a woman, which is rare in the world of poster designers) could advertise almost everything but a mundane product such a tire brand. The caption at the bottom tells us that the Pneus Gallus manufacture was located in Puteaux (a stones throw from Paris, right across from the Seine river).

A. Clement made himself a name in the late 1800s by manufacturing fine bicycles. In 1903 one of the family scions started an auto workshop and named one of its earliest creations after Bayard, a legendary French knight. The factory operated until 1922.
